Hey Bob,
Shh, it’s okay, we don’t need to wake the others. There’s no trouble, I just wanted to chat for a minute. This forest, it’s so beautiful, but so strange and dangerous. Nothing like the great grasslands back home. Even in the late hours of the night, there seems to be so much life moving about us. I’ll be honest, I’m really out of my element here. I think we all are; I’ve never seen everyone on such high guard. Back home, we’ve traveled the lands and made friends far and wide, and perhaps a few enemies here and there. But here? It seems everywhere we go we cause trouble. Yeah… the Wild Rovers seem to seek out trouble, but not like this. Even Urs isn’t acting like himself, this morning he didn’t even use his hammer to seek out a direction.
And then there are those elves. Beelak, Bussel, Blaze… it’s a good thing I don’t have to write those names down, who even knows how to spell those correctly!? I can’t quite tell if they are friend or foe, at first I thought we could trust them, back home all of the elves I know are proud and helpful. But here? They seem to like to use mind-altering magics and talk in riddles. Vara and Angus spoke to the one they call Blaze this morning. It’s a good thing Angus went over his notes and remembered that we were looking for the Arch of Augra, otherwise we’d still be in that forest! The two day travel wasn’t so bad, I’m surprised that they didn’t lie to us! Did you see those arches? They were huge! We don’t have arches like that back home.
Everyone was looking for some sort of ruins, but I was just so mesmerized over those arches. Did you pee on one? I really wanted to. When we did find those ruins, they were really cool, huh? It’s a good thing you didn’t touch those two sigils, when I touched the one with three circles with Angus and Urs I really burned my hand! It really hurt; I think my hand is a little callused from it still. Vara touched the one with fire, and she didn’t get burnt at all! I don’t know what they are, but supposedly Tobias says that the circle sigil was from their friend Angharradh. Do you know Angharradh? No, I’m not angry with you, it’s the name of a god that Tobias knows. Tobias, you know, the guy in the amulet. What’s an amulet? Don’t worry about it Bob.
Back to those ruins. Touching that sigil opened the passage, I wonder if we had to hurt ourselves to enter, or if there was some sort of other means? I don’t really understand this whole arcane thing like master Vitus does, it doesn’t seem very natural. Maybe it’s because the ruins belonged to some sort of god? It’s a good thing you didn’t stick around after we entered; a bunch of elementals jumped us when we were inside! You did a good job running way until we cleared it out, you need to be sure you’re safe! That was quite the fight though, the room kept transforming. One second it’s a cliff, and then everything is on fire and even the river in the middle is evil! The water room was my favorite, although I suspect Angus and Vara didn’t appreciate it as much as I. And then the floaty room, that was cool! I thought the fight was going fine, but then all of a sudden there was four elementals attacking us! We kept going up and down, passing out left and right. We’ve been in a ton of fight in the past, but this one was really wild. Don’t worry though Bob, we can take care of ourselves! I may have forgotten about the ravine and took a bit of a nasty fall, but I’m all better now!
It’s a good thing Urs’ friend Mack found us and told us it was some sort of temple of a god, otherwise we may have had to fight more of those elementals! I tried talking to those elementals, and they only spoke gibberish. The shamans back home taught me the tongue of the elements, and they didn’t seem to have a voice. Maybe if we have time I’ll come back and help them find it! Honestly, I’m curious what was in the next room. Oh, did you hear that conversation Urs had with Tobias? Tobias is young and has a ton of responsibilities in their future. We may not call this world our home, but I think they do. I didn’t disagree when they said that trying was the same as doing, I just think there’s a bit more to it than that. Sometimes trying is all you can do, but at least you try!
And now here we are. Mack is leading us to a village of beasts, which seems to have only a single human among its inhabitants. I suspect they are one of nature, one of my kind perhaps. We haven’t run across many humans, except for those elves and those sneaky ones that just attacked us. Three of them escaped, I hope they took their beating to heart and won’t come back. I wonder if they want this medallion back. I bet if they knew that Urs ate it, they wouldn’t! It has a symbol of a cloak drap0ed over a short sword, I wonder if this is some sort of guild emblem? That reminds me, we really should make our own emblem! I heard of a great tortle artist back home, perhaps we should commission him when we get home!
Well Bob, I think that’s enough chat for one night. I’m worn out, and it’s about time for me to wake Vara up for her watch. If you’re gonna go pee on Angus, now’s the time to do it. Alright bud, have a good night!
