Session 9 — Ridiculous Rovers

Our Ridiculous Rovers regrouped on the Altair after a difficult fight with some ghostly pirates, and some snatching of loot. As they began to return to the ship they heard thunderous footfalls headed in their direction, which turned out to be a Cyclops, whose treasure they had just stolen.

After a minor confrontation and eventually discussion with the cyclops, named Alfie, the Rovers agreed to return his ‘toys’ and leave his island, never to return. And also to help him make friends with a dragon.

Their boat damaged in the scuffle with Alfie, the Rovers began to sail towards the coast north of Hi’thar. They got close but suffered a mysterious psychic explosion, which also accelerated the sinking of the Altair. With no other option, they all piled into the dinghy and rowed the rest of the way to the coast.

During this time, Cryxis found them and informed them that the reason he sent them to the cyclops’s island was to find a pair of bracers that potentially had the ability to suppress Tobias’ wild magic

After his departure, the Rovers made it to shore, and suddenly a stegosaurus appeared. The group, no longer phased by such surprising occurrences, took the opportunity to allow Urs to play with the dinosaur in the shallows, and to make plans for their continued journey to Lo’thar.

As they rested on the shore before resuming their trek south, they were protected from the elements by a shimmering blue magical bubble that appeared around them with no warning.

Late into the night, Urs noticed a strange blue disc floating in the air a short distance from the group. Curious, he stuck his head inside and then jumped through. The rest of the Rovers quickly followed, for fear of losing the only one of their number that God-child Tobias was truly fond of.

The strange disc was, in fact, a portal to the docks of Lo’thar, most likely summoned by a barely controlled burst of magic from Tobias. Fearing more uncontrollable magic from Tobias, Urs and Bratak took him outside the city to wait for hopefully forthcoming help, courtesy of a wizard friend of Desmond’s.

While they waited, they proceeded to teach Tobias some of the finer points of magic, such as the fact that he needed some sort of focus, like a very large hammer. Or perhaps as small stick.

During this time, Desmond and Aengus went to visit Vitus, a powerful elven wizard at the local college of magic, The Arcanum.

Vitus very quickly agreed to come meet Tobias, realizing the significance of an immature, unaligned, undefined future member of the elven pantheon. After some discussion between Tobias and Vitus (whom Urs thought was Tobias from the future), Tobias decided that he should go the Feywild and meet with the gods of the Seldarine, to whom he had been speaking psychically for almost his entire life.

Realizing that they weren’t yet capable of protecting Tobias on his journey, the Rovers began to make plans to increase their martial prowess and magical abilities by taking on jobs from the Help Wanted Board.
