Session 4 — Taking over the Town

Our intrepid adventurers woke in their fancy underground hotel room and began to make a plan that would finally solve the mystery of missing cows. The first step was for Aengus to use his powers to make a small idol of Moradin, and take it as a gift to Luke Shortarms, in the hopes of finding any information on how changing cattle brands could be done. Aengus learned how that was done, as well as the fact that Barnabas and Beeho had had their brands made by Luke, but Tyrel had not.

Armed with that information, the Rovers decided to take Tyrel up on his previous offer to come for dinner, bringing cakes and beer, in the hopes of apologizing for their previous behavior. The gifts were well received and after an apology and a filling dinner, Tyrel agreed to let the Rovers investigate what was happening on his ranch. Very quickly they discovered a cow with a freshly changed brand. That brand, however, had been changed from Tyrel’s to Barnabas’, leading the Rovers to conclude that Barnabas was attempting to use them to frame Tyrel. This was then confirmed when Tyrel told them that Barnabas originally had his eye on the land that Tyrel settled on.

After some discussion, the Rovers agreed to accompany Tyrel into town the next morning, in order to confront Barnabas. Upon their arrival in town, the Rovers were quickly surrounded by Barnabas’ henchman, and an intense battle ensued. After defeating Barnabas and his minions, the Rovers quickly called on the Sheriff, in order to calm the townsfolk. After some discussion, it was decided that the Rovers would take ownership of Barnabas’ ranch, renaming it “Wild Rovers Ranch”. The Rovers then decided to have Old Ander, one of the most experienced townsfolk, run the ranch for them, since they had other business to attend to.

With the problem solved and new friends made, the Rovers left town, headed towards their next Wild adventure!
