After Kaicho finished sleeping off his day drinking and Mavmeros delivered his sermon on moderation, Arden performed a Divination spell, asking for guidance on how to find the Morstrum parents. The response was cryptic:
Dangling in the wind,
Fear in their hearts and souls.
Look to the cliffs soon.
The party Asked Jeeves for answers. The manservant pointed to the Cliff’s Edge Taphouse as a nearby cliffside landmark, and they rushed to it. After some spider high jinks, Arden befriended Frànk, the firbolg proprietor of the Taphouse, but when Milo and others attempted to sneak into back rooms they were asked to leave.
Deciding to try for the Morstrum parents again later, they turned to other matters. Ragon, concerned about his friend Alicia who was trapped at Innsmouth as zombies closed in, learned that a teleportation circle at a lighthouse on her island could bring her to safety, if only she could get there. Through telepathic messages, Milo relayed this information, but Alicia demurred because it was too far and too dangerous to travel on foot, and a criminal organization had the port city on lockdown, preventing ships from leaving.
Remi recounted the out-of-body vision he experienced while he was paralyzed by the cultist’s amulet in Dis, in which he traveled among the stars at inestimable speed. He asked Kaicho if he had a similar joyride, but the Boss clammed up, unwilling or unable to revisit the terrible memories left behind by a scarring experience.
Turning their attention to the upcoming Escalante art gala, the gang paid a visit to the Artful Hideaway, a magical, mobile, maximum security vault. Within his private strongroom, Kaicho showed off his favorite art pieces to his friends, and they selected one painting with which they hoped to barter for the Escalantes’ favor. Mav and Kaicho negotiated the exchange of the painting and Mav’s recently acquired Oathbow for 600 platinum pieces and entry to a highly exclusive early showing at the gala. With just a few days to prepare for the event, the party spent some of their new coin on flashy formal wear and a concealed pocket o’holding.
