Session 18 — “Hey Durgeddin”

Charlie noticed that Durgeddin retained much more of his identity and memories than is typical for an Animate Dead spell. His form was becoming increasingly corporeal and his will was becoming increasingly free of Kerath’s as time progressed.

Durgeddin’s advisor in life, Arindel, now a ghost that the party previously encountered, allied himself with his leader and turned on the others by possessing Argora. His and Durgeddin’s goals were to “cleanse the forge”, reclaim their stronghold, and “honor their god”.

Blumf convinced Arindel to release Argora since everyone’s goals were (sort of) aligned and Argora would serve as a greater ally if he was not possessed.

Durgeddin led the way to the armory, which was ransacked. Everything was gone except a single magical warhammer, which would only move for Durgeddin. The party allowed him to arm himself with this…

While exploring, they ran into Lyra again, this time disguised as a rat. As before, she berated the party for taking so long in recovering weapons for Dark Warren and disappeared before they could get any real answers from her.

They explored rooms old and new in search of the duergar until they were caught in an ambush. With the help of Durgeddin and Arindel (who possessed one of the duergar), the party defeated all but one, whom Zin (played by Steven) charmed so that he could be interrogated. The session ended before that happened, with Kerath being swallowed by an enchanted rug…
