The party decided to enter the fray to rescue Yusdrayl and to kill Calcryx. They were successful, and though Yusdrayl regarded Calcryx as her valuable property, she was grateful for their intervention. She was also pleased to receive Durnn’s head. She rewarded the party for the assassination and asked them to continue exterminating goblins.
The group returned to the goblin throne room and descended the shaft into the lower level. They entered the den of a male bugbear and some giant rats which they fought and defeated. Exploring further, they entered a laboratory with potted plants and strange alchemical experiments on giant rats. A group of goblins was spooked by the party and escaped through a door, but the party captured one goblin, who they interrogated. They learned that the magic fruit-bearing tree is called the Gulthias Tree and that the goblins regard Belak as their master.
With some hesitation, they executed the goblin, only to find that the goblins that escaped earlier were waiting in ambush in the next room. The party defeated them and continued into a long hall containing a small greenhouse and some spiny bushes. A few bushes animated, revealing themselves to be twig blights, and attacked the party. The party destroyed them and burned the remaining shrubs for good measure.
In an adjoining room, the party encountered a sickle-wielding female bugbear, who they dubbed Judy, and who controlled some animated skeletons. Again, they defeated their foes.
